Design simulation
You are a designer of avionics gear, and you’ve
just been sent a package by Marketing related to the
new transponder you’ve been asked to design. As you
wade through the documents, you link what seem to be
important phrases and numbers to a KollabNet
DesignMap.
You may not realize it immediately, but you are
actually creating a simulation of your design, just
by linking these items to the KollabNet DesignMap!
For example, you may have entered a power
constraint in the requirements capture process.
Knowing that this was a firm limit, you created an
Excel spreadsheet to total the power demands of
components as you entered them.
KollabNet keeps track of everything you told it
to. So when the “total power required” cell in the
spreadsheet exceeds the power constraint you entered
earlier, KollabNet lets you know right away.
Through the power of KollabNet,
a simulation of your design is created as you proceed through the
design process. KollabNet doesn’t forget; it keeps
track of everything, and compares every addition to
what is already there. It helps you maintain
consistency.
