only lets you link Word and Excel documents to the
dimensions in a CAD file—it can link to the
dimensions in multiple CAD files. You may use CATIA
in-house, but may engage a contactor who uses
SolidWorks, Inventor or both. By linking to the same
critical dimensions, you can ensure that both models
stay fully synchronized.
This kind of interoperability circumvents any
issues of specific object or element
translation. Each system retains the model in
native form; only critical dimensions are
linked, to ensure perfect mating of parts.
